My photography is an exploration of the human form as sculpture.
I am fascinated by the way light can transform the body, reducing it to shape, line, texture and shadow while still retaining something unmistakably human.
My work draws heavily on the traditions of classical chiaroscuro. I use controlled, low-key lighting to reveal and conceal the form, often allowing darkness to become as important as the subject itself. I think of this process as carving with light.
I am not interested in simply recording what is in front of the camera. I want to create images that feel considered and timeless, photographs that can be looked at repeatedly and continue to reveal something new.
The finished photograph is equally important to me. My works are produced as carefully considered fine-art prints using museum-quality materials and are offered as limited editions for collectors.
After many years of working with photography, I continue to be driven by the same fascination: how little can be shown, and how much can still be said through light, form and shadow.
