The Architecture of Light: An Artist Statement

My work is an exploration of the human form as sculpture. In an era saturated with digital ephemera, my photography seeks the timeless—a pursuit of structure, anatomy, and the deliberate interplay of shadow and highlight.

Inspired by the classical traditions of chiaroscuro, I do not merely document the subject; I carve it from the darkness. By isolating the body through precise, low-key lighting, I strip away the narrative to reveal the underlying geometry of the human form. I view the model not as a person to be captured, but as a topography of light and texture to be studied. This is "Carving with Light"—a practice that demands stillness, extreme technical rigour, and a rejection of the superficial.

Photography is a medium of light, but a finished print is an object of permanence. My commitment to the craft extends beyond the shutter. Each piece is treated as a foundational asset, utilising museum-grade Hahnemühle cotton rag paper and traditional chemical processing. I create these works to endure, intended for spaces and collections that demand substance, endurance, and quiet contemplation.

My practice is a testament to the idea that beauty is not found in the chaotic, but in the controlled, the intentional, and the enduring.
